"ある茨城の農家は、風評被害によって通常の相場の10分の１（数十円）にまで値段が下がったトマトを泣く泣く直接市場で売った。どれだけ店舗で安売りされているか確認しにスーパーに行くと驚いたことに売り場では「風評被害に負けるな！茨城県産の野菜を食べよう！」というポップ付きで普段の定価（数百円）で売られていたという。値崩れを防ぐための販売手法なのかもしれないが、数十円で売った立場としては、なんともいえない気持ちで帰ってきたそうだ。風評被害に乗じて不当な利益を得ている業者もいるかもしれないと著者は指摘している。"
